Privacy Policy

FaithOS is deliberately privacy-conscious: no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no external web fonts. Because FaithOS brings together digital projects related to the Catholic faith, this policy explains transparently which data is processed and why.

1. Privacy at a Glance

General Information

The following information gives you a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data by which you can be personally identified.

Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. The contact details are listed in section 3 and in the imprint.

How do we collect your data?

FaithOS currently does not provide contact forms, user accounts, or tracking. You browse without a user profile. When you visit the website, server log files are processed automatically for technical reasons; these may include your IP address, browser, access time, and requested URL. On public pages, the Simon widget may also process technically necessary access data so it can be delivered and, if actively used, receive feedback.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right to obtain information about the origin, recipients, and purpose of your stored personal data at any time, as well as the right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and objection. You can contact us at any time using the address listed in the imprint if you have further questions about privacy.

2. Hosting

Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare CDN

This website is hosted via Cloudflare Pages and delivered through the Content Delivery Network (CDN) of Cloudflare Germany GmbH, Rosental 7, c/o Mindspace, 80331 Munich, Germany (parent company: Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Cloudflare operates globally distributed servers that cache page content, improve loading times, and help protect the website from attacks.

In this process, website traffic including your IP address is technically processed by Cloudflare. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Cloudflare pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR; suitable safeguards, in particular EU Standard Contractual Clauses, apply to possible transfers to the United States.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in fast, stable, and secure delivery of this website. More information is available in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Notice on Data Transmission by Email

Please note that data transmission over the internet, for example when communicating by email, may have security vulnerabilities. Complete protection of data against third-party access is not possible.

Catholic Data Protection Standards

FaithOS is a project developed in Catholic responsibility, but it is not an official ecclesiastical body. Processing is therefore generally governed by the GDPR and applicable state data-protection law; the state data protection authority is responsible.

In substance, we also orient ourselves toward Catholic data-protection principles, especially data minimization, purpose limitation, transparency, data-subject rights, technical and organizational safeguards, and careful rules for service providers and possible third-country transfers.

Your Rights

Under Articles 15 to 21 GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and objection to the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority:

4. Data Collection on This Website

Server Log Files

When this website is accessed, technical information transmitted by your browser is processed automatically. This includes in particular:

  • browser type and browser version
  • operating system used
  • referrer URL
  • hostname of the accessing device
  • time of the server request
  • IP address
  • requested URL

This data is not combined with other data sources. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in stable and secure operation. Server logs are generally retained only as long as necessary for operation, security, and error analysis.

Cookies and Local Storage

FaithOS does not use tracking cookies or analytics. According to the current implementation, the website does not set its own cookies for advertising, audience measurement, or user profiles. If the browser stores local settings or technically necessary data for embedded functions, this is not used for cross-site tracking.

Web Fonts

This website does not load fonts from external services. FaithOS uses system fonts that are already available on your device. No connection to Google Fonts or other external font services is made.

5. Embedded Services

Simon Widget for Feedback and Support

On public pages, we embed the FaithOS Simon widget via simon.faithos.de. The widget is used for feedback and voluntary support of FaithOS work. It is not an analytics, advertising, or tracking tool.

Which data does Simon process?

When the widget loads, Simon processes technically necessary access data such as IP address, time, and browser and device information so the script can be delivered. If you actively use the widget, the project name, current public URL, time, browser and device information, and your input or clicked button may be processed depending on the action. Please do not enter sensitive information in the feedback field unless it is necessary for your request.

Legal Basis and Payment Services

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to receive bug reports and feedback in a low-threshold way and to enable voluntary support for the continued development of FaithOS projects. If you choose a support option through the widget, an external payment service may open; the privacy policy of that provider applies there.

External Links and FaithOS Projects

FaithOS links to sister projects and other external services. You leave FaithOS only when you click an external link. The privacy notices of the respective provider apply to data processing there.

6. Email Contact

If you contact us by email, your message and the contact details you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your request. We do not share this data without your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or, for general inquiries, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data will be deleted when the purpose of storage no longer applies and no statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.

7. Changes to This Policy

We update this privacy policy if functions, service providers, retention periods, or legal requirements change. The current version is always available on this page.
